Forest Frontline Staff
The Unsung Heroes of Wildlife
The Forest Frontline Staff constitute the grassroot level of wildlife conservation in India. Employed locally by the Forest Department, they bear a profound responsibility for safeguarding the forests and its inhabitants. Right from patrolling on foot to control poaching and other illegal activities to staying vigilant throughout the day to prevent natural or human-made disasters, the frontline workers undoubtedly carry a divine spirit in their work. From the scorching summers to the heavy rains and unbearable cold, these workers endure rough and challenging conditions throughout the year. They walk approximately 20 kilometers every single day in extreme terrains with little or no equipment. Anticipating a potential threat from a wild animal on a daily basis, there are times when they cannot make it back to their homes. Thus, seeing these people selflessly working to protect our forests, we at the Adavi Alert Foundation have made it our life's mission to help and empower these vanguards.
In these 24 years, Pavan Joshi (Founder) has constantly hustled to provide these foot soldiers with basic necessities such as clean drinking water, field kits, rugs, brass whistles, summer caps and other gear which are crucial in helping them do a more efficient job. Financial aid to veteran frontline workers and their families are also provided.
