Gaja Raksha Phase I

Phase One of the Gaja Raksha initiative was successfully conducted in the elephant conflict zone of Chamarajanagar district, focusing on equipping frontline forest staff with essential wilderness first aid skills. Designed by Outdoor Medics, the training was led by Dr. Nikhil, who provided hands-on instruction tailored to real-world challenges faced by forest personnel.

The session included live demonstrations of various medical scenarios, along with comprehensive training on using the advanced medical kit provided to the range. This critical resource will enhance emergency response capabilities in remote forest areas.

Beyond medical training, Adavi Alert Foundation extended further support by donating Wildcraft shoes to frontline workers, ensuring better mobility and comfort in challenging terrains. Bags were generously contributed by students of BMS College of Law. Additionally, AAF provided brass whistles to serve as emergency alert tools, aiding in elephant conflict management and enhancing safety in critical situations.

We are also grateful to Nikon, our equipment partner for Gaja Raksha. Their support for conservation underscores their dedication to protecting wildlife and strengthening those working on the frontlines.

This initiative was made possible through the dedicated efforts of our senior conservationist, Sudheendra Prahallad, and our committed team members, including Vishal S Bharadwaj, Vishwas, Shashank Shakunthala, Raghuram, Varsha S Ananda, Anmol Patel, and Sujit Kutta. Their coordination, expertise, and passion ensured the successful execution of Phase One.

The initiative received strong participation and support from the forest staff, who actively engaged in the training. Our team provided valuable insights into the Gaja Raksha initiative and its growing importance in conservation efforts.

This is just the beginning. Gaja Raksha remains committed to safeguarding both wildlife and the people who dedicate their lives to protecting it.
