PTLOLS - Bhadra Tiger Reserve (Feb 2024)

The Bhadra Tiger Reserve, nestled in the heart of the Western Ghats, stands as one of the most vital biodiversity hotspots. Home to a plethora of wildlife including elephants, tigers, Indian Gaurs, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer, Spotted Deer, and numerous other mammals and reptiles, it boasts an extensive array of flora with hundreds of tree species and a thriving bamboo forest. The forest's allure is accentuated by its towering trees, which envelop the reserve in natural grandeur.

Comprising four distinct ranges, namely Muthodi, Hebbe, Lakkavalli, and Tanigebylu, the tiger reserve is safeguarded by a dedicated team of 300 staff members. Recognizing the challenges posed by the rugged terrains and diverse landscapes of the Bhadra Tiger Reserve, the Adavi Alert Foundation (AAF) stepped in with a timely initiative. On February 2nd, 2024, the foundation generously donated and distributed field kits to support the tireless efforts of the reserve's field staff.

These comprehensive kits, meticulously curated, included jackets and shoes crafted by Wildcraft, sturdy brass whistles, practical summer caps, high-intensity torches, and durable backpacks. The distribution ceremony was graced by the presence of the field director (DCF) and other esteemed officers, underscoring the significance of this initiative. The support extended by the hierarchy further emphasized the collective commitment to conservation efforts.

The Adavi Alert Foundation would like to express sincere gratitude to Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology for supporting with 25 Jackets & Shoes and Union Bank Bangalore for 50 backpacks for this project. Alongside, we extend heartfelt thanks to all donors for their support and contribution, which made this successful event complete. The impact of the Adavi Alert Foundation's gesture reverberated throughout the reserve, eliciting smiles from every member of the frontline team, including the dedicated watchers. In a landscape as challenging and dynamic as the Bhadra Tiger Reserve, located in Chikkamagaluru district, such initiatives are not just appreciated but essential for the well-being and efficiency of the field staff. As the region braces for the impending fire season and continues its relentless conservation endeavors, the invaluable support provided by the foundation ensures that the guardians of this precious ecosystem are equipped and empowered to fulfill their duties effectively.
