KCR Residential school Thimmarajipura

Overview:
As part of the Sarpamithra State Campaign, Adavi Alert Foundation conducted a Snake Bite Awareness and Conservation Education Session at Kittur Rani Channamma Residential School, Thimmarajipura. Located adjacent to the BRT Tiger Reserve in Chamarajanagar district, the school is situated within a landscape where interactions between people and wildlife are common. The programme witnessed the participation of 196 students and 11 staff members and focused on snake ecology, snakebite prevention, biodiversity conservation, and the importance of responsible coexistence with wildlife.

Session Highlights:

  • Awareness on the ecological significance of snakes and their role in maintaining healthy ecosystems

  • Introduction to the commonly encountered venomous and non-venomous snake species of Karnataka

  • Discussion on human-wildlife interactions in forest-fringe landscapes surrounding BRT Tiger Reserve

  • Guidance on preventing snakebite incidents in homes, schools, agricultural areas, and outdoor environments

  • Demonstration of scientifically recommended snakebite first-aid measures and emergency response protocols

  • Addressing myths, misconceptions, and superstitions associated with snakes

  • Interactive discussions encouraging students to become future ambassadors for conservation and wildlife protection

  • Donation of Snakes of Mysore books to the school library as part of the Sarpamithra State Campaign

  • Distribution of snakebite awareness and conservation posters for educational display within the institution

Overview: On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, Adavi Alert Foundation conducted a conservation awareness programme at Sancta Matha College of Nursing, Gundlupet. Given the college's proximity to the Bandipur Tiger Reserve and the Nilgiri Biosphere landscape, the session focused on the importance of biodiversity conservation, current environmental challenges, human-wildlife coexistence, and snakebite awareness.
