Adavi ಅಕ್ಷರ
Adavi Akshara is a conservation education initiative under Project Gajaraksha by Adavi Alert Foundation, created to empower children living in forest-fringe villages with knowledge, awareness, and a deeper understanding of elephants, wildlife, and the importance of coexistence.
Children growing up alongside forests and wildlife are often the first to witness the challenges of human-elephant (HEC) conflict. At the same time, they represent the future generation that can drive positive change within their communities. Adavi Akshara seeks to nurture this potential by combining education with conservation awareness, helping young minds develop respect for nature while strengthening their understanding of the environment around them.
The program focuses on students from 5th Standard to 1st PUC and provides educational support through books, stationery, learning materials, and conservation awareness resources. Through interactive sessions, students learn about the ecological importance of elephants, the role of forests in sustaining life, the challenges faced by wildlife, and the importance of maintaining harmony between people and nature.
As part of the initiative, educational posters and conservation materials are provided to schools, while awareness flyers are included in every student kit distributed through the program. These resources are designed to encourage continuous learning and discussion within schools, homes, and communities.
The first phase of Adavi Akshara is being implemented across 28 villages surrounding the Omkar region of the Bandipur Tiger Reserve. As the program grows, Adavi Alert Foundation aims to expand its reach to schools and communities across all 13 forest ranges of the Bandipur landscape, ensuring that more children living alongside wildlife have access to conservation education and learning opportunities.
Beyond providing educational materials, Adavi Akshara aims to create young ambassadors for conservation. Every child who understands the value of elephants and forests has the potential to influence their family, friends, and community, creating a ripple effect that strengthens coexistence and conservation efforts for years to come.
Through this initiative, Adavi Alert Foundation envisions a future where education becomes a powerful tool for conservation, empowering children to become responsible citizens who value biodiversity, respect wildlife, and actively contribute to protecting the natural heritage of their region.
Supporters can contribute towards books, stationery kits, school awareness programs, conservation education materials, posters, flyers, and village-level outreach activities. Individuals, institutions, and corporate partners can also sponsor an entire school program, enabling hundreds of students to benefit from conservation education and learning resources.
By supporting Adavi Akshara, you are not only helping a child learn—you are helping build a future where communities and elephants can coexist in harmony. Every contribution, regardless of size, directly supports conservation education and creates lasting impact in some of India's most important wildlife landscapes.
Sponsor a School. Educate a Child. Protect an Elephant. Support Adavi Akshara and become part of a movement that is shaping the next generation of conservation leaders.
